There are wedding days you film… and then there are wedding days you feel.
Sarah and Lewis’ the Vu wedding was one of those unforgettable days where every frame tells a story of warmth, connection, and timeless love. From the soft morning anticipation to the final dance beneath a starlit Scottish sky, their celebration at The Vu in Bathgate was pure magic.
As a wedding videographer, capturing moments like these is why I do what I do.
Morning Light & Anticipation
The day began with quiet excitement. Laughter echoed through the bridal suite as Sarah shared special moments with her closest friends. The atmosphere was filled with emotion — that beautiful mix of nerves and joy every Scottish bride feels before walking down the aisle.
Hair styling by Sally Drummond perfectly complemented Sarah’s effortless look, while Kerry at The Loft created a soft, radiant glow that lasted from morning preparations right through to the dance floor.
Lewis, calm but visibly excited, shared a few laughs with his groomsmen while adjusting his tie. Those subtle glances toward the ceremony space said everything.
This is where a true wedding film begins — not just with events, but with emotion.
The Ceremony at The Water Lily
Set against the breathtaking loch view, the Water Lily ceremony space at The Vu is something truly special. The soft natural light pouring through the glass walls, the serene water backdrop, the stillness before Sarah walked down the aisle — cinematic perfection.
Their heartfelt ceremony was beautifully led by Beverley Celebrant, who told their story with warmth, personality and genuine connection.
As Sarah and Lewis locked eyes, time seemed to pause.
Every smile.
Every tear.
Every squeeze of the hand.
Their vows were heartfelt and genuine — the kind that remind you why love stories deserve to be preserved through wedding ideography.
The Vu Wedding Experience
A the Vu wedding offers more than just a venue — it creates an atmosphere.
Located in Bathgate, The Vu is one of Scotland’s most iconic waterside wedding destinations. The panoramic views over Ballencrieff Reservoir, the modern architecture of the Water Lily, and the seamless indoor-outdoor flow make it a dream for both couples and creatives.
The floral design by The Flower Studio enhanced the natural beauty of the setting — elegant arrangements that framed the ceremony space without ever taking away from that incredible lake view.
From a Scottish wedding videographer perspective, the light here is extraordinary. Sunset reflects across the water in soft golden tones, creating that perfect cinematic glow every bride deserves.
Golden Hour & Creative Team Magic
One of my favourite parts of this the Vu wedding was stealing Sarah and Lewis away for golden hour portraits. The wind gently caught Sarah’s veil as the sun dipped behind the hills.
Working alongside Derek Christie Photography is always seamless — a shared vision, calm approach, and complete focus on giving the couple space to simply be themselves.
No posing.
No pressure.
Just the two of them, wrapped in that “we just got married” feeling.
These are the moments that define Scottish weddings — natural, heartfelt, beautifully real.
Videography was captured by White Tree Wedding Films , preserving every laugh, every vow, and ever dancefloor moment in cinematic detail.
